Skills Can Be Learned and Improved

Executive functioning isn't fixed. It's a skill set that grows with practice. Our step-by-step approach and expert guidance give you the structure and support you need to help your child build these abilities - through hands on practice!

Learn With Your Hands, Not Just Your Head

Forget boring worksheets and lectures.  The truth is that your child already "knows" what they are supposed to do.  But that is not the same as being able to access and execute those skills when they need them. That's why we focus on learning by doing - building real projects with materials you already have.

Understand the 'Why' Behind Every Step

This isn't a building guide. Your child's creativity will fuel their creations.  What we break down for you is exactly which executive functioning skills are being practiced in each activity.  Things like planning, sequencing, impulse control, emotion regulation, time management, problem solving, and more. In our Backstage Pass to the Brain sections, you'll discover precisely what your child is developing and why it matters.

About the course

This course includes two separate building/STEM challenges designed specifically to help elementary-aged kids develop these critical skills. Each challenge comes with step-by-step instructions, downloadable checklists, and something most courses don't include: a detailed breakdown of which executive functioning skills are being practiced at each stage of the activity. For example, when your child writes out a plan before building, you'll see exactly how that step develops planning, sequencing, impulse control, and emotion regulation. This means you're not just doing an activity—you're intentionally building skills your child needs to succeed in school and life. The best part? You probably already have everything you need at home. No expensive materials, no complicated setup. Just you, your child, building materials, and a clear path to building stronger executive functioning skills together.

Bellaire Family Counseling

Through our work with families, we kept seeing the same pattern: kids with real executive functioning challenges - difficulty with task initiation, attention to detail, organization, or planning - whose struggles were being missed at school or misread at home as behavior problems. And the usual behavior management strategies parents and teachers reached for weren't built to address skills like these; they were built for something else entirely. So we developed a structured, skill-based program to directly teach and support these skills - the same way we'd teach any other skill a child hasn't learned yet. As we ran the program, we realized many of the activities we were facilitating in group sessions could easily be adapted for home. That led us to create this series of executive functioning activity guides, so kids could get more practice and parents could learn more about executive functioning - which would hopefully ease some of the frustration!
